IBARAKI UNIVERSITY, JAPAN AND FACULTY OF ENGINEERING UNY EXPLORE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES

The President of Ibaraki University consisting of the President, Prof. Hiroyuki Ohta, Vice President Prof. Toru Masuzawa, and Dr. Nobuo Sakagami from the International Affairs Office visited the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (06/12/2022) to explore the potential for international cooperation. The delegation from Ibaraki University was received by the Dean, Vice Deans, heads of departments and UUIK FT UNY.

The discussion began with an introduction and brief presentation of the FT UNY profile by the Dean of FT UNY, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D. followed by Prof. Hiroyuki Ohta and Prof. Toru Msuzawa who also explained the profile of Ibaraki University and several international collaboration programs that have been running.

On this occasion, there were several cooperation schemes that will be discussed further in the future, including cooperation schemes with Visiting Professor schemes, MBKM student exchange 20 SKS transfer credit, short course schemes with Project Based Learning, sending lecturers for further study, and joint research schemes.

Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of FT UNY, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyadi said that there are several similarities in research focus between Ibaraki University, especially the School of Engineering and FT UNY so that it is very possible to collaborate in the field of research and education.

"In addition, in accordance with the MBKM scheme for student exchange abroad that continues to be promoted by the government, students can choose the fields of science and skills that they want to study for 1 semester at foreign universities and Ibaraki University will be very suitable as a partner of FT UNY," he said.

"Regarding technology transfer, Ibaraki University and FT UNY have both competed in the Student Formula Japan Ecopa Arena, Shizuoka, Japan some time ago, so it is possible for further research collaboration," he said.

Prof. Hiroyuki Ohta said that Ibaraki University has good relations with several universities in Indonesia and is ready to cooperate with FT UNY. The visit agenda ended with the handover of mementos and a group photo.
