Yogyakarta, November 4, 2025 – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), hosted a discussion meeting with Prof. Dr. Eric Nikolaus Günther Schoop from the Chair of Information Management, Dresden University of Technology (Technische Universität Dresden, Germany). The event was attended by faculty leaders, department heads, and program coordinators across the Faculty of Engineering.
The activity began with a Welcoming Ceremony, led by representatives of the faculty leadership who expressed appreciation for the long-standing academic relationship between UNY and TU Dresden. The meeting served as part of the Visiting Professor Program, aiming to strengthen academic collaboration, enhance digital competence, and expand research cooperation between the two institutions.
During the discussion, Prof. Schoop and UNY faculty members explored potential avenues for research collaboration and funding opportunities through European programs such as Erasmus+ and other EU-based schemes. The session provided valuable insights into how Indonesian and German universities can jointly develop interdisciplinary projects in engineering education, e-learning innovation, and digital transformation.
Another key topic discussed was the development of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs to facilitate joint virtual classrooms between UNY and TU Dresden. This initiative aligns with global trends in international education and promotes intercultural learning experiences for students. Additionally, the discussion highlighted the relevance of DigComp 2.2, the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens, as a foundation for enhancing digital literacy and competence in both teaching and research activities.
The event concluded with a mutual commitment to follow up on the discussed initiatives through concrete academic agreements and joint proposals, marking another milestone in the partnership between Faculty of Engineering UNY and TU Dresden, Germany.
