Garuda UNY Eco Team won second place in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2024 held at Mandalika International Circuit, Indonesia in the Urban Gasoline category. This achievement adds to Garuda UNY Eco Team's achievements in vehicle energy efficiency competitions at the international level.
In the competition that took place on July 2-6, 2024, Garuda UNY Eco Team displayed their innovative vehicle, which was able to demonstrate fuel efficiency. The aerodynamic design of the car and the use of advanced technology brought the team to an impressive result of 414 km/liter, beating other teams from various countries in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. Not only winning second place, their achievement in the Urban Gasoline category also brought Garuda UNY Eco Team to be selected to participate in the Regional Championship event that brings together the best teams from various Urban categories at Shell Eco-marathon 2024.
In the Practice Regional Championship round, Garuda UNY Eco Team showed a promising performance by placing first. Unfortunately, in the Regional Championship, they had to face technical problems involving the engine and several other components. This condition forced the team to settle for fifth place in the event. "Despite the technical problems, we are still grateful for this achievement. Thank you for the support from the leadership of UNY and all related staff, sponsors and the dedication and hard work of all members of Garuda UNY Eco Team," said Team Manager, Sultan Muhammad Yusuf. "We will continue to innovate and learn from this experience for better results in the future."
This achievement is proof that the Garuda UNY Eco Team's innovation and hard work can compete at the international level. The team hopes to make improvements to the technical obstacles faced and is ready to return to compete with higher enthusiasm in the next event. This achievement brings Garuda UNY Eco Team not only to the pride of Yogyakarta State University but also to the name of Indonesia in the international arena in the field of technology competition and energy efficiency.
