Prof. Dr. Jemal H. Abawajy Presents the Inovation of Driveless Car

The development of technology have been proven to change many things in human life, even nowadays cars can go their own way without human control because now it has allowed vehicles moving from one point to another without human interaction by applying a number of sensors to detect various things like other vehicles, other road's users, traffic lights, and other movements. This was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Jemal Hussein from the School of Info Technology Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, Deakin University as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (23-25 / 10/2019).

On this occasion Prof. Dr. Jemal Hussein Abawajy teaches in Automotive Engineering Education, Electrical Engineering Education and Electronic and Information Engineering Education because it is related to his expertise in the Internet of Things and his latest research related to "Driverless Cars".

Technology in this driveless cars uses a variety of technologies sych as anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, adaptive roaming control, departure lane warning systems, self parking systems, automatic guided vehicle systems, Lidar-Systems (in google cars) or Cruise Automated Systems ( Audi) as well as infrared cameras.

According to Prof. Dr. Jemal, several cars that have adapted the technology are Google, Tesla Model D announced in 2014, Cadillac Super Cruise which was launched in 2014 for the 2017 model and Ford Traffic Jam Assist in 2012 allows the car to automatically follow the traffic flow.

"This innovation is very important to develop in Indonesia because this breakthrough is believed to be able to drastically reduce the level of car accidents due to the fact that the level of death due to road accidents here (in Indonesia) is quite high, "he concluded. (Winarti)
