Various efforts continue to be promoted to realize the vision of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) to become a world-class campus. This effort appears from various programs that have succeeded in grasping various achievements and recognition from the international world. In line with this vision, Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State Univesity (FT UNY) continues to strive to establish itself as an international vocational education campus. Dean of FT UNY, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D., said that all campus components were continuously encouraged to engage in various international activities. "As a recent example, our robotics team joined the Federation of International Robot-Sports Association (FIRA) in Changwon City, South Korea and was rewarded with 5 awards," he said.
"At the end of this year, our students have also just presented silver and bronze medals in the 5th International College Students Barista Championship," continued Prof. Herman.
"In addition to going through competitions, we also continue to improve international internship programs where our students" learn "to work for about 6 months with our partner companies in Japan such as Sagami Fresh Co., Ltd., Sanyo Tec, Kowatech, and Domremy, Co. Ltd, "he explained.
"We also continue to improve our teaching practices at overseas schools, currently we are working with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and Sultan Idris Education University to send our students to teach in Malaysian schools and will be extended to other ASEAN countries.
Our teaching staff also continues to be active in conducting collaborative research with overseas campuses from Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, China and others.
"Even the visiting scholarship program is of our concern where our lecturers teach on overseas partner campuses for several months and also on the contrary we present experts from partner campuses such as Deakin University, The University of Melbourne, Yamaguchi, Kasetsart University to become guest lectures," he said.
Herman added that FT UNY has also taken steps to standardize international quality and service by two study programs visitation, Electrical Engineering Education and Electronic Engineering Education by the ASEAN Quality Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA as a form of systematic, structured, transparent, quality monitoring and sustainability in order to ensure the availability of quality human resources.
"This year, we are also preparing to visit ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics / Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics) for Automotive Engineering Education and Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program," continued Herman.
Exactly today FT UNY celebrates its 59th anniversary with the highlight of the event on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in the form of Joint Gymnastics and social activities such as blood donations, free health checks, SIM and STNK Extensions and contests. "The 59th Anniversary event is expected to be a place of togetherness in order to strengthen the relationship of the entire FT UNY extended family so as to create harmony in the steps to create a world-class vocational education campus," Herman concluded.
