UNY Student Accepted into Student Exchange Program to Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Karlsruhe, Germany

Yogyakarta, Augst 2025 — Yogyakarta State University (UNY) once again makes a brilliant achievement through one of its students. Muhammad Efflin Rizqallah Limbong, from the Information Technology study program, Department of Electronic and Informatics Engineering Education, has successfully passed the rigorous selection process for a student exchange program at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Karlsruhe, Germany.

DHBW Karlsruhe is a leading university in Germany that implements a dual education system (theory and practice) with a strong focus on close collaboration with industry partners. DHBW Karlsruhe offers various courses in English for international students, particularly in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, and Business. Additionally, students have the opportunity to attend intensive German language courses and cultural activities that support their integration into the new environment.

Efflin’s success doesn't stop there, this high-achieving student has also been awarded the prestigious STIBET scholarship, which is managed by DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and channeled through DHBW Karlsruhe. This scholarship is tangible proof of Efflin's dedication and hard work, and it paves the way for his study abroad experience without financial constraints.

During the exchange program, Muhammad Efflin Rizqallah Limbong will undertake a full semester, namely the Winter Semester (September 1 – February 28). The program will begin with a two-week orientation and intensive German language course. Afterward, he will focus on his studies for the first four months (September–December), taking relevant courses in his field of Information Technology, such as Web Engineering, Database, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering. In the last two months (January–February), Efflin will participate in additional lectures, a special project, and an internship. Furthermore, Efflin will also be actively involved in social and cultural activities in Karlsruhe to strengthen the bond between students and the Indonesian community in Germany.

As part of its internationalization efforts, UNY continuously encourages its students to participate in exchange programs, academic collaborations, and global partnerships. Efflin's departure to Germany is a clear testament to UNY's commitment to producing globally competitive graduates. The study opportunity earned by Muhammad Efflin in Karlsruhe, Germany, is a first step toward broadening his academic horizons and cross-cultural understanding. Through UNY's international cooperation program, Efflin is prepared to embark on a global learning experience that will enrich his academic and personal perspectives in an international stage.

While Efflin’s achievement is a personal triumph, it is also the product of UNY’s strategic and coordinated institutional effort to build and maintain global academic partnerships. It is essential to acknowledge that the collaboration with DHBW Karlsruhe is the result of a structured and sustained initiative led by UNY’s International Office, in close coordination with the Unit of International Office, Faculty of Engineering.

The International Office of UNY has played a pivotal role in initiating and nurturing this partnership through formal agreements with DHBW. This cooperation is part of UNY’s broader internationalization agenda, aiming to establish mutually beneficial academic exchanges, expand student mobility, and foster global academic networks. DHBW Karlsruhe, recognizing UNY’s commitment and academic calibre, extended an opportunity for student participation in their exchange program, including access to scholarships such as STIBET.

Responding to this opportunity, UNY demonstrated its institutional commitment by officially nominating qualified students, including Efflin, to undergo the competitive selection process. The Faculty of Engineering, as the academic home of the nominated students, played a central role in mentoring, preparing, and supporting them throughout the process, starting from direct correspondence with the International Office of DHBW and academic readiness to interview preparation and administrative coordination. This synergy between the International Office and the Faculty not only ensured the success of individual candidates but also helped solidify the long-term sustainability of the collaboration. This achievement therefore represents more than a single student’s success, it reflects UNY’s institutional strength in managing international programs, its proactive approach in building global partnerships, and its capacity to align academic excellence with international opportunity.

As part of its commitment to producing globally competitive graduates, UNY continues to encourage and facilitate international academic experiences for its students. The success of Muhammad Efflin Rizqallah Limbong is a clear outcome of this vision and stands as a strong example of how international cooperation can enrich both student potential and institutional reputation (Ratna).
